One of Jefferson County’s largest annual events is just over two months away, and organizers are looking for community members to help make it happen.

The Airshow of the Cascades is seeking volunteers for its 2026 event, scheduled for August 28–29 at the Madras Municipal Airport. The all-volunteer-run nonprofit typically relies on 300 or more volunteers each year to pull off an event that draws thousands of visitors from across Central Oregon and beyond.

What the Airshow Offers

The two-day event features:

  • Aerobatic flight demonstrations and airshow performers
  • Static aircraft displays
  • A classic and custom car show
  • Live music
  • Food and vendor booths

The Airshow of the Cascades is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit. One of its key community functions is providing opportunities for local civic organizations to raise money for programs and scholarships by operating concessions and other booths at the event.

Volunteer Positions Available

Organizers are looking for volunteers in several areas, including:

  • Parking — directing the large volume of vehicles that arrive during peak show times
  • Hospitality — working with VIP areas and sponsor guests
  • Guest services — helping attendees with questions and navigation
  • Additional general support roles throughout the event

Volunteers receive group orientation, appreciation from the organization, and the satisfaction of being part of one of the best free community events in Jefferson County.

Why It Matters to Madras

The Airshow of the Cascades is more than an entertainment event — it’s an economic driver for Madras. Hotels, restaurants, and businesses throughout the city benefit from the influx of visitors each August. The airport itself gains visibility as a viable general aviation destination.

For many families, the airshow is an annual tradition and one of the highlights of the summer in Jefferson County.

How to Sign Up

Interested volunteers can sign up at cascadeairshow.com/volunteer or contact the organization through its social media channels. Positions fill up — the show has historically needed all 300-plus volunteers it recruits, and returning volunteers often book early.
