Cascades East Transit (CET) is expanding bus service between Madras and Redmond starting June 15, giving residents a new midday travel option to connect with the broader Central Oregon transit network.

What's Changing

Route 22, which runs between Redmond and Madras, will gain a new 11:30 a.m. departure from the Redmond Transfer Hub, with a corresponding 11:30 a.m. pickup from the Madras DMV stop. The new run is specifically designed to improve connections for passengers traveling toward destinations like Kah-Nee-Ta and the broader regional transit network.

The service changes are part of a broader package of updates CET is implementing across Redmond, Bend, and Madras on June 15. Other changes include modifications to Redmond's A and B Flex routes, additional service runs on Routes 22 and 24, and expanded connections between Redmond, Bend, and Madras to improve commuter transfers. A new stop serving the Downtown Redmond Library is also being added.

What It Means for Madras Riders

The new midday run fills a gap in the current schedule, which has limited options for residents needing to travel to Redmond for appointments, shopping, or work during the middle of the day. The Madras pickup point at the DMV on Northeast D Street has been a central hub for transit users in the area.

CET operates as the regional transit provider for Central Oregon, and the Madras-Redmond corridor is one of its intercity routes — connecting Jefferson County residents with the larger Deschutes County transit system.

Some Flex Routes Being Reduced

Not all the June 15 changes are expansions. Some Redmond flex routes are seeing reduced service due to lower ridership. CET has not specified which stops or time slots are being trimmed, but riders are encouraged to check the updated schedules before assuming their current service remains unchanged.
