Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort is turning its fire-season solidarity into an ongoing act of community gratitude. Starting this week, the resort is hosting weekly appreciation days through the end of September — offering free admission to first responders on Tuesdays and to all Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs members on Wednesdays.

A Resort That Stayed Open During the Crisis

When the Bench and Beachcomb fires swept across the Warm Springs Reservation in late July, Kah-Nee-Ta managed to remain safe and operational. Rather than shutting down, the resort opened its doors to the community. According to resort management, more than 2,100 residents from Warm Springs and Madras received complimentary access, RV stays, and a place to escape the smoke and uncertainty during the height of the emergency.

Now, as the community transitions to long-term recovery, Kah-Nee-Ta is extending that spirit of support with a structured program designed to give people — especially those who worked through the crisis — a chance to rest and recharge.

Weekly Schedule

  • Every Tuesday through September: First Responder Appreciation Day — free resort admission for firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and their immediate families.
  • Every Wednesday through September: Tribal Appreciation Day — complimentary admission for all Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs members.

“Our goal is simple: to give families, relief workers, and neighbors a space to recharge, come together, and find a little peace,” resort management said in a statement.

Kah-Nee-Ta, located along the Warm Springs River on the reservation, is known for its natural hot springs pools, lodging, and cultural connection to the land. During an unusually active fire season that strained the entire region, the resort’s decision to serve as a refuge — and now a place of appreciation — reflects a broader theme of community solidarity that has defined the Warm Springs recovery effort.
