Visitors heading to the Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort this summer will find a dramatically different — and dramatically improved — experience on the Warm Springs Reservation. A significant revitalization project has been completed for the 2026 season, representing one of the most ambitious investments in the resort's history.
What's New at Kah-Nee-Ta
According to resort officials and reports from KWSO 91.9 and Visit Oregon, the revitalized Kah-Nee-Ta now features:
- 30 pools — including mineral hot springs wellness pools, cold plunges, a lazy river, and private soaking tubs overlooking the Warm Springs River
- 30 remodeled motel rooms
- 20 teepees for overnight guests seeking an authentic and memorable experience
- 70 RV sites
The resort is open daily, with day-use hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The entrance project and broader improvements are part of a phased investment in lodging, wellness services, recreation, and dining.
A Comeback Story
Kah-Nee-Ta's revitalization is a significant chapter in the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs' ongoing work to rebuild economic enterprises on the reservation. The resort had a complicated history in recent years and its rebirth has been a community priority.
The Wasco Electric Cooperative highlighted the vision behind the project: resort leadership has articulated plans that look even further ahead, including a potential 200-unit RV park, an outdoor amphitheater, a family-friendly 9-hole golf course, outdoor slides, and an indoor water park for year-round use.
Tribal Economic Development
Kah-Nee-Ta is one of several tribal enterprises — alongside Indian Head Casino and Warm Springs Power & Water — that contribute to the economic foundation of the Warm Springs Reservation. Summer tourism at the resort draws visitors from across the Pacific Northwest and supports employment for tribal members.
The resort sits in a sun-drenched canyon along the Warm Springs River, where horses run free and the high desert climate delivers roughly 300 sunny days per year. For Central Oregonians, it's one of the region's most distinctive destinations — and with the 2026 upgrades, there's more reason than ever to make the drive.
