For 509J, which serves approximately 2,740 students across nine schools including campuses in Madras, Culver, Metolius, and Warm Springs, the cuts required careful prioritization to protect classroom instruction as much as possible. The district’s Spanish Dual Language Program, offered at Buff Elementary and Madras Elementary, continues to operate as one of the district’s signature offerings.

The COCC Madras Campus continues to offer dual-enrollment opportunities allowing Jefferson County high school students to earn college credits while still in high school — a pathway that has grown in popularity in recent years and helps local families reduce the cost of post-secondary education.
