Jefferson County got a taste of rock royalty last week as Legends Reloaded, a brand-new two-day tribute band festival, made its debut at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds on June 19 and 20. Approximately 2,000 tickets were sold for the event, bringing visitors from across the region to Madras.

The festival featured 10 bands performing over two days, with tribute acts honoring some of rock's most iconic names, including Fleetwood Mac, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin. Organizers billed the event as "a celebration of rock's most iconic artists, set against the dramatic high desert landscape of Central Oregon."

A Personal Connection to Madras

Co-producer Jason Fellman didn't choose Madras by accident. He had previously performed at the Jefferson County Fair as a member of Stone in Love, a Journey tribute band.

"I've actually played at the fair before, with my own band Stone in Love, back in the day, maybe five years ago," Fellman said. "So we already were familiar with the fairgrounds, and we love the vibe there."

After scouting locations, the team kept coming back to Madras — and residents welcomed them warmly.

"It's really been fun to get to know folks in the community. We feel like we've been really embraced by the folks around town," Fellman said.

Community Impact

Beyond the music, the festival had a tangible economic ripple effect. Out-of-town attendees filled local hotels, ate at Madras restaurants, and explored the community. An after-party held at The Spot in Madras was highlighted by Fellman as one of the standout moments of the weekend.

"That's what it's all about," Fellman said. "When you get to see people, musicians coming together, and everyone is having a good time. That was really cool."

Future Plans

The festival's future location has not been finalized. Fellman said the team has not committed to returning to Madras specifically, but expressed genuine appreciation for the community's hospitality. Local officials and business owners who saw the economic benefit of 2,000 visitors descending on a single weekend are expected to make the case for bringing Legends Reloaded back to Jefferson County in 2027.

For a rural community that rarely lands events of this scale, the debut of Legends Reloaded was a reminder of what's possible when Jefferson County's natural setting and open spaces meet creative event planning.
