Madras High School is celebrating one of its seniors: Matthew Suppah-Scott, a student athlete and member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, has been selected to play in the 75th Annual Shriners' Hospital East-West All-Star Football game.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, July 25 at Baker City High School. It is one of Oregon's most prestigious high school all-star football events, bringing together the state's top graduating seniors each year to compete in a charity game that benefits Shriners Children's hospital in Portland.
A Standout Season
Suppah-Scott earned his place in the all-star game after an outstanding senior season with the Madras White Buffaloes. He was named first-team all-league as a senior, one of just a handful of players in the Mid-Willamette Conference to earn the top honor at his position.
His selection to the Shriners East-West game — which draws talent from across the state — is a recognition of his ability to compete at the highest level of Oregon high school football.
A Proud Moment for Madras and Warm Springs
Suppah-Scott's selection carries particular meaning for the broader Jefferson County community. As a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, his achievement reflects the strong athletic culture that connects the reservation community and the Madras school district — two communities whose students share classrooms, fields, and futures.
Nearly 4% of Central Oregon Community College students at the Madras campus identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, and the athletic pipeline from Madras High School to higher education and beyond represents an important pathway for tribal youth.
