The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) log for June 8–14 reflects an active week for law enforcement across the county, with incidents ranging from shots fired in a residential neighborhood to a juvenile vehicle pursuit and contraband smuggled into the county jail. Log items are charges, not convictions.

Shots Fired in Culver

On the evening of June 8, JCSO deputies responded to a report of shots fired within the Culver city limits. After investigating, Robert Dethman, 58, of Culver, was arrested on charges of recklessly endangering another person, unlawful use of a weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm. The shooting occurred in a residential setting, and no injuries were reported.

Juvenile Pursuit on Highway 361

On June 13, a deputy received a report of a juvenile possibly driving a stolen vehicle on Highway 361 south of Madras. The vehicle was located in Metolius, and when the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled at high speed. The pursuit was terminated for public safety reasons — a common law enforcement practice when a chase poses greater danger than the underlying offense.

The vehicle was found a short time later, and a juvenile male was taken into custody on charges including eluding a vehicle, reckless driving, and two counts of reckless endangering.

Contraband Discovered at County Jail

On June 14, deputies discovered contraband inside the Jefferson County Jail. Roderick McMahon, 52, of Madras, was subsequently charged with first-degree criminal mischief and supplying contraband.
