There's plenty happening this week in Warm Springs. From the launch of the Recreation Department's monthly fitness challenge to free legal services available today, the reservation community has a full schedule as November gets underway.

November Fitness Challenge: Sign Up Today

The Warm Springs Recreation Department is now accepting entries for its November Fitness Challenge, which officially kicks off today. Application packets are available at the Warm Springs Community Center. Community members interested in participating can contact Hamley Smith at (541) 553-3243 for more information.

The monthly fitness challenges have grown into a popular community tradition, offering a structured way to stay active during the fall and winter months. The high desert climate — with its short days, cold temperatures, and limited outdoor options — makes a group fitness challenge a meaningful way to keep community members motivated through the season.

Free Legal Aid Services Available This Morning

The Native American Program Legal Aid Services of Oregon (NAPOLS) will be in Warm Springs this morning from 9 a.m. to noon at the Community Action Team office. NAPOLS provides free civil legal services to Native American residents across Oregon and is a critical resource for tribal members navigating issues related to housing, family law, public benefits, consumer matters, and more.

No appointment is necessary, though arriving earlier in the session is recommended to ensure you're seen before noon.

Head Start Fall Family Carnival: Wednesday, November 4

Families with children in the Warm Springs Head Start program are invited to a Fall Family Carnival on Wednesday, November 4, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. The event takes place in A-pod at the Early Childhood Education building. Organizers are planning food and games for the evening.

Costumes are welcome for kids and families — the event falls just a few days after Halloween, so there's still time to break out the costumes once more. A reminder from organizers: no face coverings or fake weapons, please.

Looking Ahead: Native Markets in November

Two upcoming Native Market events offer opportunities for community shopping and connection:

  • November 11 (Veterans Day): Native Market and Community Meal at St. Charles Madras, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors at the main entrance; community meal served.
  • November 25: Native Market at the Old Warm Springs Elementary Cafeteria. Returning vendors will offer jewelry, traditional items, and handmade gifts — ideal for early holiday shopping.
