A 20-year-old Warm Springs man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on Monday after pleading guilty to sexually exploiting a child, recording the abuse, and distributing the material online.
Odysseus Japeth Tewee was sentenced in Portland by a federal judge following a case that began in September 2024, when the Portland Police Bureau received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about a video depicting child sexual abuse originating from Warm Springs.
Investigation and Arrest
Portland Police Bureau investigators identified Tewee as the suspect and notified the Warm Springs Police Department. Officers from the Warm Springs Police Department and FBI subsequently arrested Tewee. A search of his phone by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office uncovered more than 100 photographs and nine videos containing child sexual abuse material.
Tewee was charged in October 2024 with sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography, transportation of child pornography, and sexual abuse contact. He pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child in January 2026.
U.S. Attorney Scott Bradford for the District of Oregon announced the sentencing.
Federal Sentencing
The 15-year sentence reflects the severity of charges under federal law, which carries mandatory minimum sentences for the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Federal sentences are served at 85% without the possibility of parole.
Child exploitation investigations involving tribal communities fall under the jurisdiction of federal law enforcement, including the FBI, in coordination with tribal police departments. The Warm Springs Police Department's cooperation in this case was instrumental in the rapid identification and arrest of the suspect.
Anyone with information about child exploitation is encouraged to contact the NCMEC tip line at 1-800-843-5678 or submit a report at CyberTipline.org.
