Families enrolled in the Warm Springs WIC program now have a new tool for putting fresh, locally grown food on the table this summer — and it won’t cost them a dime out of pocket.

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs WIC program announced that it has secured a Farm Direct grant that provides $28 in produce vouchers to up to 113 eligible participants. The vouchers became available on June 1 and are a “bonus” benefit, meaning they do not reduce or replace a participant’s regular monthly WIC balance.

Who Qualifies

Current WIC participants are eligible for the vouchers, including:

  • Pregnant individuals
  • Breastfeeding and postpartum parents
  • Families with children up to age five

Vouchers are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to five sets per family.

Where to Use Them

The vouchers work like cash at participating farmers markets and farm stands across Oregon. In the local area, participants can use them at:

  • Paradise Produce — Madras
  • Martin’s Produce — Madras

A partnered farm stand will also be present at the Warm Springs Thursday Market on June 18 and September 10 to accept benefits directly on-site.

How to Pick Up Vouchers

WIC staff will be at the Warm Springs Thursday Market starting June 18th to answer questions and issue vouchers in person. Participants can also pick up their vouchers at the Warm Springs WIC office after June 1, or call ahead to confirm eligibility.

The program reflects a broader effort by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs to connect community members with healthy, local food sources and to support regional growers. For Jefferson County families — whether in Warm Springs, Madras, Metolius, or Culver — the Farm Direct vouchers represent a practical way to stretch household food budgets while supporting local agriculture.
