Families enrolled in the Warm Springs WIC program now have a new tool to stretch their food budgets and access fresh, locally grown produce: Farm Direct vouchers worth $28, available through November 30.
What Is the Farm Direct Program?
The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program secured a Farm Direct grant from the Oregon Health Authority, enabling it to participate in the statewide WIC Farm Direct Nutrition Program for the 2026 season.
Starting June 1, WIC participants at the Warm Springs clinic began receiving $28 in Farm Direct vouchers per family. Vouchers can be used to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from participating farmers markets and farm stands throughout the region.
The Farm Direct season runs June 1 through November 30, giving families a five-month window to use their benefits.
How to Get Your Vouchers
Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited. To receive Farm Direct vouchers, participants must be currently enrolled in the Warm Springs WIC program.
Current WIC participants should contact the Warm Springs WIC clinic directly to confirm their enrollment status and receive their vouchers before supplies run out.
Where Can Vouchers Be Used?
Farm Direct vouchers are accepted at participating farmers markets and farm stands. Residents should ask their WIC clinic for a list of approved vendors, or check with Oregon Health Authority at oregon.gov/oha for a statewide directory of participating locations.
Jefferson County and surrounding areas have a number of seasonal farm stands and farmers markets where fresh produce is available, making this a practical benefit for Warm Springs families.
Why It Matters
Access to fresh fruits and vegetables can be limited in rural and reservation communities. Programs like Farm Direct help bridge that gap while also supporting local agriculture. For WIC families in Warm Springs, the $28 voucher may represent a meaningful supplement to their monthly food budget, particularly when it comes to fresh produce that may not always be accessible or affordable.
