This Weekend and Next

Madras Saturday Market kicks off its 2026 season this Saturday, May 9, running every Saturday through September 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sahalee Park. Shoppers can expect artisan items, baked goods, handmade products, and local food vendors throughout the season.

Community-Wide Yard Sales return May 15-17. Guides will be available May 13 online and at the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce office.

MHS Theatre Presents "These Shining Lives" -- Madras High School's Performing Arts Center hosts performances on Friday, May 15 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. General admission is $12; seniors, veterans, and students pay $8.

Saturday, May 16: A Packed Day

May 16 is shaping up to be one of the biggest days of the month:

  • COCC Salmon Bake 2026 -- 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the newly expanded Madras COCC campus. This beloved annual event, now in its 25th-plus year, features a free traditionally prepared salmon lunch, a Native American cultural celebration, vendor booths with handmade crafts, a silent auction, and live performances. Free admission.
  • Jefferson County Sheriff Boat Inspections -- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Madras Marine. Get your watercraft ready for Lake Billy Chinook season.
  • Nature Kids -- Pollinator Power -- 10:30 a.m. to noon at Sahalee Park. A hands-on educational event for young nature lovers.

Sunday, May 17

The Third Annual Madras Mayfaire Fantasy Market runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sahalee Park. This year's theme is "Woodland Revelry." The event is free and open to the public -- expect costumed vendors, artisan wares, and a festive atmosphere.

Oregon Junior High Division Spring Rodeo

Young rodeo athletes take center stage May 15-17 at the Jefferson County Event Complex (Fairgrounds), with the Oregon Junior High Division Spring Rodeo filling Corwin Arena, the outdoor arena, and stalls. Come out and support the next generation of Central Oregon's rodeo tradition.
