WAK-9 Service Dogs Benefit Dinner | 4–8 p.m. | Desert Inn, Madras

WAK-9 Training hosts its annual fundraising dinner to support service dog training programs in the region. The evening includes a silent auction, a Ruff Land kennel raffle, and a firearms raffle (9mm and AR). Open to the public — no reservation required. Visit wak9training.com.

Wednesday, June 10

City Administrator Finalists Meet-and-Greet | 6–7:30 p.m. | Initiative Brewing, 715 SW 4th St, Madras

This is your chance to meet the three candidates vying to become Madras's next City Administrator — Brenda Fahey, Maurice Henderson II, and Jody Yates. Hear brief remarks, ask questions, and submit written feedback. The City Council will review community input during deliberations. No RSVP required.

Taproom Talks | 5:30–7 p.m. | Over the Edge Taphouse, Madras

The regular Taproom Talks series continues, this month featuring Capstone Accounting and Tax. A relaxed evening conversation covering business, finance, and community. A good opportunity for local business owners and entrepreneurs to connect.

Thursday, June 11

Madras City Administrator Final Interviews | Madras City Hall

The three city administrator finalists will undergo final panel interviews at Madras City Hall. Per Oregon Public Meetings Law, interviews and deliberations are held in executive session and are closed to the public. A hiring decision and contract negotiation may follow soon after, subject to full council approval at a public meeting.

Saturday, June 13

Ninth Annual Car Show | Indian Head Casino, Warm Springs

One of Jefferson County's signature summer events — the annual car show at Indian Head Casino on the Warm Springs Reservation. Classic cars, custom builds, and community pride on the high desert. Located on Highway 26, 15 miles west of Madras. Family-friendly. Free to attend.

  • June 24 (Wednesday): Wells Fargo closes its Madras E Street branch permanently. Make arrangements for your banking needs before that date.

Ongoing Reminders

  • Burn restrictions: All open burning is closed countywide. ODF regulated use closure is in effect for Jefferson County. No debris burning, no exploding targets, no tracer ammunition.
  • Fire season preparedness: Know your evacuation zone. Sign up for emergency alerts at jeffco.net. The 2026 fire season is expected to be severe across the region east of the Cascades.
