Madras is pulling out all the stops for the Fourth of July as the nation marks its 250th anniversary, with a full day of family-friendly events anchored at Sahalee Park and capped by one of the largest fireworks shows in Jefferson County history.
The theme for this year's celebration — "Red, White and Blue 250 Years With You" — was chosen to reflect both the holiday spirit and the milestone of America's semiquincentennial, according to Debbie Taylor, executive director of the Madras/Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
"I think for us, it's really just about being together with family and friends," Taylor said. "That's really what it is, just to have that time for people to come together, enjoy those traditional events that they have. It's for everyone just to be together and to celebrate."

A Milestone Celebration
July 4, 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence — a once-in-a-lifetime milestone that communities across the country are celebrating. For Madras, the day is as much about local identity and community pride as it is about national history.
Vendors will be set up from 9 a.m. until noon at Sahalee Park. The splash park — a popular summertime draw for families — will be open throughout the day.
Whether you're running the Todd Beamer Memorial 5K at sunrise or watching fireworks light up the high desert sky at 10 p.m., there's something for every age at this year's celebration. Jefferson County residents are encouraged to arrive early and stay late.
