The Warm Springs Reservation has a full week of community programs and events ahead, even as fire season activity intensifies across the region. Here’s a look at what’s happening this week and through the month of August.

Building Resiliency Summer Day Camp (Ages 7–13)

The Warm Springs Prevention Team’s 6th Annual Building Resiliency Summer Day Camp is underway this week, running daily from 1 to 5 p.m. through Friday, August 7. The free camp is open to youth ages 7 to 13, and lunch and snacks are provided daily. Pre-registration is not required — kids just need to sign in every day upon arrival.

As a special incentive, youth who attend and participate all five days will earn a trip to Oaks Park in Portland on Friday, August 7. The camp focuses on building personal resilience and community connection — themes that resonate strongly during a challenging fire season.

Tribal Appreciation Day at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort — Wednesday, August 5

The next Warm Springs Tribal Appreciation Day at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort is coming up this Wednesday, August 5. Tribal members receive free admission for day use at the resort, making it a great mid-week opportunity to enjoy one of Central Oregon’s most iconic destinations without the summer crowds.

Johnson O’Malley Committee Meeting — Tuesday, August 4

The Warm Springs Johnson O’Malley (JOM) Committee holds its monthly meeting Tuesday, August 4, from 5:15 to 8 p.m. in the conference room at the Early Childhood Education Center. The JOM program supports educational programs for Native American students. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Contact the committee at JOM@wstribes.org for more information.

Tribal Council This Week

The Tribal Council agenda for Monday includes a Bureau of Indian Affairs update, Bureau of Trust Funds Administration update, and realty items. This afternoon’s schedule includes a Legislative Update Conference Call and Tribal Attorney Update. Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. is Tribal Member Concerns — an open session for community members to bring issues directly to Council.

Museum at Warm Springs: Annual Membership Drive Through August 31

The Museum at Warm Springs kicked off its annual membership drive on Saturday, August 1, and it runs through the end of the month. The museum — which holds one of Oregon’s premier collections of Plateau tribal art, artifacts, and cultural history — relies on member support to sustain its programming and preservation work. Memberships support free or reduced admission and fund educational outreach across Jefferson County and beyond.

Prospective members can sign up directly at the museum or learn more about membership tiers and benefits by contacting the museum at Warm Springs.
