The Warm Springs Branch of Natural Resources Fisheries Department is distributing fresh coho salmon to community members at the Warm Springs Community Center around noon Wednesday, October 28 — a direct benefit of a fishing season that has returned coho to tribal waters for the second consecutive year.
Tribal Council authorized coho fishing on the Warm Springs River through Resolution No. 13,341 for the 2026 season, opening the river from its mouth up to the hatchery weir. Wednesday's distribution gives community members who were unable to fish an opportunity to receive salmon directly — a practice rooted in the Confederated Tribes' tradition of sharing resources across the community.
2027 Tribal Budget Discussions Continue
Warm Springs is in an active community engagement window around its 2027 tribal budget. A General Council meeting dedicated to the budget was held Monday evening at the Agency Longhouse, with a community meal served at 6 p.m. followed by the formal session at 7 p.m.
The budget process reflects the Confederated Tribes' commitment to community-driven governance, with General Council sessions allowing tribal members to ask questions and weigh in on priorities before the governing Tribal Council finalizes appropriations. Additional budget input opportunities are expected in the weeks ahead.
Mobile Medical Clinic and Accessible Healthcare
Warm Springs Community Health's Mobile Medical Clinic was set up at the Shelter Dining Hall Tuesday morning from 9 to 11:30 a.m., offering accessible primary care services for community members who may lack reliable transportation to clinical settings. The mobile clinic is a regular feature of the tribe's community health outreach efforts and serves residents throughout the reservation.
Spirit Week Lights Up the Workplace
This week is Spirit Week for tribal employees and Warm Springs Early Childhood Education (ECE) staff. Wednesday's theme for tribal workers is "Dress as a Monster Day," with Thursday dedicated to "Superhero Day." Warm Springs ECE is celebrating a "Pink Out" day Wednesday — in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and "Farm Day" Thursday, with flannel shirts and overalls encouraged. Photos of participation are being collected and shared across the tribal community.
