Summer in Jefferson County reaches its peak this week as the 2026 Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo opens Wednesday, July 22, and runs through Saturday, July 25. The beloved four-day event takes place at the Jefferson County Event Complex on Fairgrounds Road in Madras — and as always, admission is free.
This years theme is Red, White & Blue — This Fair Is for YOU, presented by Brightwood, NextEra Energy, and TS&S Ford.
What to Expect
The fair showcases the best of Jefferson Countys agricultural heritage, drawing participants and spectators from across the region. Highlights include:
- Livestock and 4-H/FFA exhibits featuring youth projects from across the county
- Rodeo events including bull riding and barrel racing
- Carnival rides and family-friendly activities
- Live music and entertainment throughout the weekend
- Local vendors and fair food
Free Homestead Tours — A Special Addition This Year
The Jefferson County Historical Society will offer free tours of the Farrell homestead house and an early-day schoolhouse at the fairgrounds from 1–3 p.m. daily, July 22–25. Historical Society board members will provide antique car rides to and from the schoolhouse. Its a rare chance to step into Jefferson Countys past right in the middle of the fairgrounds.
Free Snowcones in the Park
Free snowcones will be handed out from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 — and again at a future August date. A perfect treat for a hot Central Oregon summer day.

The Jefferson County Event Complex sits on more than 50 acres in the heart of Madras. With fire restrictions in effect across the region and many outdoor activities limited this week, the fair offers a fantastic community gathering with no entrance fee.
