Summer's biggest event in Jefferson County is almost here. The 2026 Jefferson County Fair & Rodeo opens this week, running Tuesday through Saturday, July 22–25, at the Jefferson County Event Complex on Fairgrounds Road in Madras. As always, admission is completely free.
Theme: Red, White & Blue — This Fair is for YOU
This year's fair, presented by Brightwood and NextEra Energy with TS&S Ford, carries a patriotic theme celebrating community and county pride. The Jefferson County Event Complex — a 50-plus-acre facility in the heart of Madras — will host four days of classic county fair programming that draws visitors from across the High Desert region.
What to Expect
- Rodeo action — livestock competition and traditional rodeo events
- Carnival rides — fun for all ages
- Live music — throughout the event
- Fair food — the classics and then some
- 4-H and FFA exhibits — featuring Jefferson County's agricultural community
- Homestead Tours — 1–3 p.m. daily, July 22–25, hosted by the Jefferson County Historical Society at the fairgrounds. Free tours of the Farrell homestead house and the early-day schoolhouse, with antique car rides provided by board members
Free Snowcones in the Park
The City of Madras is offering free snowcones at the park from noon to 2 p.m. on July 23 and again in August — a cool treat during what has been a hot Central Oregon summer.
Fair Timing Note
With the Brewer Fire and Akawa Butte Fire continuing to burn in the county, fair organizers and Jefferson County officials have not announced any changes to the event schedule as of Tuesday morning. Residents should monitor air quality conditions, which may vary during the week. Check oregonair.org for current air quality readings in the Madras area before attending outdoor events.
